The Cherwell Boat House is to the north of Oxford on the River Cherwell. It’s been there since 1904 and still provides Punts for the adventurous who want to combine danger with romanticism – I say that because I once got marooned in one! The spectator says “It is not for the casual diner, but the formal diner will enjoy excellent pudding.” The cuisine is Modern European and the Wine List has won various accolades. The Good Food Guide 2015 said the food was ‘improving’ and Hardens said it’s ‘a hedonistic mix of incredible food, delicious wine, and that quintessential Oxford scene…’
The TeaHutBar and the restaurant are apparently accessible. There’s a disabled toilet in the restaurant, with ‘some’ grab rails – we’re awaiting their verification as to whether this is a Ludicrous Loo or not (see a definition of one here). Unfortunately the event space/marquee which looks incredibly romantic for weddings, is up approx. 10 steps – they will carry you up if required.
Until we get a response from the Cherwell Boat House they get a provisional/unaudited 2BBS Ticks. Worth a visit.
