Listing Description

Salt & Malt is the sister restaurant to the Pony & Trap . Josh Eggleton the chef behind both began his career in Crispies fish and chips in Whitchurch and launched Salt & Malt as a ‘Fish cafe, tearoom & takeaway in a beautiful waterside setting’. Sounds lovely as it’s on Chew Valley Lake.

Josh, who starred in the BBC’s Great British Menu  (we reviewed all their restaurants from an accessibility point of view), earned a Michelin Star at the Pony & Trap so the food should be excellent as

“It is fish and chips, but with a focus on quality ingredients, fresh dining and sustainability. Everything will be handmade on site with fish delivered each day from Cornwall.”

Salt & Malt offers a gluten free fish & chip menu, as well as fresh mussels, squid, crab and line caught fish dishes sourced from the Cornish coast, where possible. Handmade burgers and bangers are also sourced locally.

The restaurant is accessible throughout and has a fully equipped accessible toilet. We haven’t been ourselves so they get a provisional 2.5 BBS Ticks. If anyone’s been let us know what you think here.
