Listing Description

We went to Polpo off the Kings Road, Chelsea expecting the same small plates of Venetian style cooking found at the other restaurants in this expanding chain. The food was similar but the place was extremely busy, the service was not as good and the food suffered as a result. We sat outside under the umbrellas in Duke of Yorks Square where access is good as this a newly developed area just of Kings Road. However, if you want to sit inside there’s a large step and the interior is small. There’s no disabled toilet – the nearest being in Peter Jones Store opposite (not very convenient!) and no booking system for tables. As a result this Polpo gets just 1.5 BBS Ticks but it does have an enjoyable buzzy atmosphere, is reasonably priced and ideal for lunch after shopping on the Kings Road.

Polpo Chelsea, Giant Heated Umbrellas for Outside Dining – Eating Inside is Difficult

Michelin 2016  said “A fun and lively Venetian bacaro, with a stripped-down, faux-industrial look. The small plates, from arancini and prosciutto to fritto misto and Cotechino sausage, are so well priced that waiting for a table is worth it.”
