Listing Description

Merchant House is a B&B in an old building and they’re not really geared for anyone who’s disabled but they are trying (see below)….

“It would depend on the disability, but the house is not an easy one for anyone with a physical disability and inaccessible for anyone using a wheelchair.I attach our Access Statement, and you will see that the bedroom accommodation is on the first floor, and has uneven floors reached via steep and uneven stairs.  This sounds a bit daunting, but it can add to the charm of a building which dates back to 1487.  However, I would not recommend it to anyone who suffers from pain in their joints, or is unsteady on their feet. Whilst the house is only a few minutes’ walk into the town centre, Lower Corve Street is at the bottom of a fairly long hill, and a newer property at the ‘top end’ of the town may be more suitable. I’m sorry to seem negative”

We’ve given it 1BBS Tick for a ‘quaint’ style and I guess, if helped, you could stay there if you’re ambulant and up for a challenge as it does look great and is well regarded on Trip Advisor.
