Listing Description

Forman’s is a 4th generation family owned salmon smoker, established in the East End in 1905. Their products are sold on Ocado which is why I recognised the name during the Olympics when they hosted a Pop-Up restaurant/ beach bar. They have a permanent restaurant called Forman’s (of course), which is a ‘Restaurant and Bar specialising in Forman’s world famous smoked salmon and seasonal British foods’. Sounds good but it’s only open Thursday to Sunday.

With a view of the Olympic Stadium, it’s the only restaurant of any note in the area which I’m sure will change once West Ham make their home at the stadium. Located in Forman’s Fish Island which is designed in the..

“shape of a ‘darne’ of salmon, with ‘scales’ tiling the roof, ‘bones’ supporting the structure and the smokery itself situated in the ‘guts’ of the building” …………

There’s a viewing gallery into the Salmon Smokehouse and we can only hope that any smells are also confined to the ‘guts of the building’. If anyone has a review let us know  here.

As far as access is concerned they have free parking directly outside (book first) and the entrance is flat with the restaurant located on the first floor via a lift. They have a standard disabled toilet close to the restaurant and there is wood flooring. The only issue is access to the roof terrace which is obstructed by the door frame but you could be lifted over it, maybe??. There’s also a Gallery bar next door which is carpeted.

The menu is small and of course features fish, they’ve had mixed reviews in the past but we think they should get a provisional 2 BBS Ticks.
