The Folly is a restaurant and bar which brings an outdoorsy, garden party vibe right into the heart of London’s Square Mile.

It’s an original and interesting space full of natural light, flora, plant pot lampshades, tree trunks, outdoor furniture and even a bee hive inspired bar. The Folly’s website describes the bar as a “botanical inspired haven” and a “sanctuary of calm” in the capital’s busy centre. The bar is featured on the World’s Best Bars website where it is described as “a seriously attractive space, though it’s on the large side so it can get noisy.”

The Folly serves an intriguing range of innovative and beautiful cocktails. One drink which jumps out as being more than a little quirky is the Goldﬁsh in a Bag, which is a mix of Little Bird Gin, mandarin vodka, rhubarb bitters, pink grapefruit ‘ﬁsh’, tonic & edible lily pads and comes served in a goldﬁsh bag. As well as being a bar, the Folly is also a deli and restaurant (and florist) during the day, serving sharing platters, gourmet sandwiches, seafood and pub staples made posh before the city folk descend on it for a drink after a hard day’s work.

There is level access into the Folly and ample room inside to manoeuvre in a wheelchair. Menus are available in large print upon request. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet within the Folly. However, the bar is on many different levels and some are not accessible to wheelchair users and although there is more than adequate space available on those which are this is a bit of a shame. There may also be some issues associated with tiled flooring (see pictures below).

We give the Folly a solid 2 provisional BBS Ticks as some areas are inaccessible and we need to double check if they pull off this botanical theme.
