Listing Description

The Bristol Marriott Royal is an example of how Listed Building can be accessible

Dated as 1868, it had a multi-million restoration having spruced up the interiors and the Grade II-listed façade. Located near the Harbour in Bristol it’s a large hotel with 200+ rooms. Its clientele are a mix of tourists and business people.

They have 7 accessible rooms and we asked for photographs which they supplied within minutes of asking. We told them to use as an Access Gallery so you don’t have to make multiple and long phone calls to find the information needed to reduce any anxiety of somewhere new. They do have written information on their site at the end of the page and they say

‘For more information about the physical features of our accessible rooms, common areas or special services relating to a specific disability please call +44 117-9255 100’ BUT this a central service and you have to choose option 4 to get the hotel direct.

Plenty of Grab Bars (We Count 4)Around the White Toilet and Small Sink is Within Reach. Bars are Silver & Toilet etc. are White.
Separate Larger White Sink Doesn’t Appear to be Lowered
2 Bars in the Shower With a Black Shower Seat Against a Beige Tiled Wall

The restaurant and bar are a Miller & Carter franchise which are good but nothing exceptional. Rooms start around £108 so quite reasonable. We hope it’s no more expensive for a disabled person’s needs??

Reception Looks Very Royal
The Lounge is Also Very Grand

Until we visit we will give them a provisional 2.5 BBS Ticks
