Listing Description

Barts & Maggies Bar are part of the same group that own Bunga Bunga, see my previous review.

BARTS is in the Chelsea Cloisters serviced apartments on Sloane Avenue. It’s a quirky speakeasy at the rear of the reception where you have to ring a bell to get in. Not sure they’ll see you through the peephole in a wheelchair! It’s got music, cocktails, food and a chest full of fancy dress costumes to help you ‘get in the mood’- for what I’ve no idea??

Unfortunately there are no disabled toilets and there don’t appear to be any nearby venues you can use. They did give us this statement on accessibility which sounds complicated, but I’m sure it’s easier than it sounds,

“there is a large entrance from the street that just has a one or two steps inside. The door to Barts is then across the foyer and down a corridor, the guest must go past one more small staircase of about 5 steps or so but there are normally staff at reception or a Barts doorman that would be able to help with this. There are then two doors that lead into Barts. We are not sure if these are definitely wide enough to fit a wheelchair through but the doorman could definitely help to carry through the collapsed chair and help support any guest through the doorway. Once within Barts the tables can easily be moved to accommodate a wheelchair and there is table service available”.

We’ve yet to visit but it sounds a fun late night place where you can meet a real Made in Chelsea crowd. Barts get 1.5 BBS Ticks.

MAGGIE’S is in the same group, and again has no disabled loo or access to one at a nearby venue. It’s an eighties inspired club based on –  ‘Prime-Minister-turned-icon Maggie Thatcher who was in power throughout this ten year period’ – their words not mine. It’s again in Chelsea and is a basement club “so guests need to travel down about 20 steps to be able to get downstairs and these steps are also quite steep, though there is a hand rail. Depending on the guests disability they may still be able to enter the club with help and then again have the Wheelchair collapsed and carried into the club for them to use inside”.

Again probably fun but not really my scene so let me know if anyone has a review. Maggie’s gets 1.5 BBS Ticks.
