Last week was the week when having a pee tried my patience! First I went to The Hampshire Hog, a GastroPub in Hammersmith, which is owned by the team that ran The Engineer in Primrose Hill. The Engineer is a well known celeb hang out but not so here, not yet. It’s got more of a…
Harrison’s restaurant in Balham is co-owned by Sam Harrison, Rebecca Mascarenhas and Rick Stein. Harrison is the main man behind the menus with Rick acting in a ‘godfatherly way’ to help him oversee things. He also pops in now and then to promote a book and his recipes feature on the menu from time to time.…
Just a quick update to say Malmaison Liverpool has been visited and it is definitely ’boutique-chain’ stylish (contradiction in terms??), but still haven’t seen the disabled rooms, see our previous post. So full 2.5 BBS Ticks for common areas. Also Mes Amis was recommended by Conde Nast as a good, secret restaurant in Hammersmith but…
People don’t believe me when I say there are Michelin Starred restaurants without disabled facilities. There are and here are my selection for the BBS Bonfire: I was going to put the Heston restaurants in Bray, The Fat Duck & The Hinds Head on the Bonfire but they seem to have followed our advice and our badgering of the…
Further update Oct 2013 the person we spoke with is wrong there is no disabled toilet at the Hinds Head but ambulant disabled can use the Gents on ground floor, accessed by a step, cleaned and cordoned off by staff if a Lady wants to use. So as you were there’s still no relief in…
Further Update Nov 2013: The Hinds Head doesn’t have a disabled toilet it’s just a large gents on the ground floor accessed via one step. So as you were, see Hinds Head review here & Fat Duck still gets 3 BBS Ticks (on the proviso that the disabled/staff toilet is accessible, we’ll investigate soon). ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
The Narrow is Gordon Ramsay’s new gastropub in Limehouse London, overlooking the Thames. The pub style of the place gives The Narrow a laid back atmosphere while the gastro side of things is covered, as you would expect, by brand Ramsay. What you get is a chilled out and quality place to eat and drink. It…
The Montpellier Chapter Hotel in Cheltenham shows that you can have style and good accessibility even in a grade II listed building. The four star hotel takes the positive points of the early Victorian villa in which it is found and mixes it with the funky design and the modern notion of disabled access. So…
As we’ve mentioned ad infinitum we were at The Pitch 2013 last week in Bristol, to get investment for BBS, fingers crossed. As a result we awarded some places BBS Ticks of recommendation. Theses are based on accessibility, facilities & of course style (see here for a full explanation of the Rating System). They all…
