The Albany is a gastro pub by the river hidden away, just down from Hampton Court. I’ve included it as it is good for where it is. Great terrace by the river, ramp access (bit steep) and a decent disabled toilet. Food is OK but it’s the river you go for. The Albany gets 2 BBS Ticks

I mentioned last week I was going to West Ham to see ManU play with Lieutenant No.1 and on the way we stopped off in Shoreditch for something to eat. We went to Albion which is the ‘caff’ part of the Conran, Boundary hotel. I love this hotel as they have accessible rooms and although…

If you read my site you know I couldn’t go to Val Do Lobo in Portugal last year as everything was booked. This year we booked a villa North of Lisbon in Foz do Arelho which is a small vilage near the stunning Obidos Lagoon. This area of Portugal is relatively unspoilt and unlike the Algarve.…

Update June 2015: Hoi Polloi is exceptionally accessible and has a well designed disabled loo. The hotel is also accessible and uber trendy as you’d expect of  a Shoreditch hotel. Really cool music played throughout, is well lit and with smooth flooring. Audited 2.5 BBS Ticks ……………………………………………………………………………………………….. Update Oct 2013: The Crowne Plaza is now…

The Michelin Guide for 2014 was published in October for Pubs & Restaurants in GB & Ireland and we thought we’d comment on the suitability of them for disabled customers – as they don’t include this!? We agree with the comment from The Telegraph that “Finally. Michelin shows signs of good taste the Guide has…

Last week I was invited to The Digital Shoreditch Party as a thank you for speaking at the event. It was at the Book Club, Leonard St., Shoreditch and of course I rang in advance re accessibility  I was assured that there was no problem although there wan’t a disabled toilet. On arriving with my friendly black…

62 Castle Street came recommended as an attractive, luxury, boutique hotel in the centre of Liverpool. It has ‘chilled out chic with cool classics’ as a Grade I Listed Victorian building that used to be a bank. They have no disabled rooms but the restaurant and bar look interesting. However, there are many stairs so not really…

We haven’t audited 42 The Calls in Leeds yet but they told us that there is no problem entering the hotel, other than a slight lip in the doorway. It is ’boutique’ with plenty of luxuries. However, none of the rooms are specifically made wheelchair accessible although they can be accessed easily. There will be…

45 Park Lane is part of  The Dorchester Collection and is just opposite the Dorchester Hotel. I had wanted to investigate for a while and went the other week. Lieutenant No4 was meant to accompany me but cancelled just as I was getting into my taxi( now you know why he’s known as the ‘I…
