It’s been a while and the ‘D List’ is back. Here we look at new things in the world of disability. This time there are great things happening in the airline sector, both of which Blue Badge Style have followed and been involved with. We knew things would change, eventually.

1ST Air4All

A seat that allows users to board aircraft in their own wheelchair has been designed by PriestmanGoode. Air 4 All is a consortium based in the UK including PriestmanGoode, Flying Disabled, SWS Certification and Sunrise Medical. We actually wrote about this in 2013! so we’ll wait to see what the airlines do.

In the USA Delta Flight Products , who innovate the interiors of aircraft as part of Delta Airlines, helped build the prototype. In the UK  lobbying of the government continues, to make the airlines recognise equality in the sky!?

2ND Geo with Centaur

Reimagining the airport of the future – Why not now we ask??

Team Geo with Centaur Robotics, developers of the self-balancing Centaur who won Guest Innovation at Blue Badge Access Award 2022, and Naurt, world leaders in location technology, have created the Geo concept.

‘A mobility solution that allows passengers with reduced mobility to browse, shop and dine, in the same way as other passengers, rather than being transported directly to the departure gate’.

3RD New Scooter the Scoozy

‘Using innovative technology to produce a flexible and comfortable personal electric vehicle that can tackle a variety of terrains both on and off road, allowing you to travel without compromise and with a smile on your face.’

Winner of a Red Dot Awards 2022 Scoozy C is designed as a mix between a power wheelchair and a scooter.

‘Its expressive design aims to break through the common image of mobility aids. The four 16″ wheels provide stability on any surface, while the high-placed LED lighting ensures safety on the road. The open design allows easy access and direct contact with the surroundings. In addition, its ergonomically shaped seat contributes to a pleasant riding experience. The joystick control allows the user to adopt a straight and thus comfortable sitting posture, in contrast to conventional scooters with a steering column.’

You can buy from TGA Mobility in the UK and other distributors throughout Europe, not in USA at the moment. You can get an at home demo from TGA.

cost is £8995 0r £189-£269/month lease.

We’ll be back again updating the ‘List’ and contact us if there’s something we should know about.
