Update Dec2013 this pop up has now closed but they will be opening a new one soon – keep watching!

Went last week to Roganic in Marylebone. I loved the idea of the food of Simon Rogan – he uses unusual ingredients and combinations, such as mushroom broth with buffalo curds, salsify and water mint. Simon Rogan has been called “one of the most innovative chefs in the country” by the Guardian. I can concur with this as we certainly had our taste buds challenged. In particular I loved the warm soda bread with the freshly churned butter and the water mint is definitely a tasty new flavour.

With regard to access there is a large step in and a step down to the back part of the restaurant. There is no disabled toilet as they are downstairs. It’s small but there was room to move in a wheelchair and the floor was wood/laminate so easy for stick walkers. They assured me their next restaurant would have all these facilities once the year left on the current lease of the ‘pop-up’ was due. The service was friendly and efficient – they noticed we were celebrating a birthday and brought us some tiny doughnut things with a candle!

There is also a restaurant/hotel in The Lake District, L’Enclume. I’m waiting for their audit questionnaire before I give them a provisional rating. Again it sounds different and welcoming.

They get 2BBS Ticks but if they had a disabled toilet would get 2.5 as very stylish and different.
