The ‘D’ List is back – all new things in the world of Disability. We take a look at new stylish and/or innovative developments the world of the less able. It’s, unfortunately, an infrequent look as not a whole lot changes with regard to style & disability. However, here’s some encouraging developments:

1st, Scooters. Previous reviews of scooters can be seen here and here. As a result we were given the heads up on these Scooters from Drive/DeVilbliss healthcare. The King Cobra looks menacing and costs from between £1800 to £4300 depending on the spec. and the dealer you buy from. The Easy Rider is between £2800 and £3800 but if you’ve seen the film or the bikes you can’t imagine Henry Fonda or Robert Duvall riding these. A good effort but could do better.

2nd, The Wheelable a Portable Shower/Wheelchair. From Osprey Healthcare, The Wheelable is for use in the shower or toilet when travelling . The video explains all but this looks like a real development in the most basic of activities. At  £799 it looks good, easy to transport and saves using your own chair in a foreign shower. It’s also a way of overcoming non-accessible toilets. Now this is innovative and stylish!

3rd The Muggi. This is from our old friends at designed2enable. In our occasional series of first hand trials you can see below how the Muggi works. It’s not just for wheelchair users it’s good for anyone who needs to carry multiple cups one handed. It features ‘four non slip feet with finger and thumb holds making it easy for young or old hands’. At £9.95 dare I say a ‘stocking filler’?? Too early!

So there you go, the ‘D’ List is back and next we’re looking for innovative and stylish shower seats. If anyone knows of something new just contact us.
