For those who follow us you’ll know we ran a competition in conjunction with Brunel University to ‘style my chair’, the student’s designs can be seen here. We put the designs to a vote and there were three winners – Expression Wheelcovers, The BackBackPack and the Honeycomb Cup Holder. We also promised we would prototype them and so far we have the following:

We still need to work out how to attach it to any wheelchair?? Ideas anyone? We also have yet to prototype the Expression Wheel Covers but you’ll be the first to know when it happens.
I think they’re brilliant but we would like your comments, as always, so please leave them here or contact us. Would you buy them? Can they be improved?
Both the back pack and a wheels covers look good, obviously can’t say to much without having a chance to try. The back pack looks smarter than an ordinary sporty one. And I love having cool wheels
BACKPACK The backpack doesn’t hold enough stuff. It’s stylish, but looks like it would only hold the contents of a purse. The triangular side looks quite narrow, and shows that all of the contents would be sitting on the bottom of the bag. How about a thicker bag with two side zippers to access separate pockets, essentially making two layers in the bag. For example, I could put sunglasses in the top one without them getting crushed under the weight of my medications, on the bottom. (lol)
WHEEL COVERS Love, love love them! 3 factors would determine if I’d buy. 1)Cost – They would have to be affordable. (under $75 USD) 2) Durability – How will they handle getting bumped and thrown around in the car 3)how quick/easy it is to pop them on and off. When my wheelchair gets folded and put in the trunk, it’s not me who puts it there or pulls it out. I don’t want to add the burden of finicky covers.
The BackBackPack is a prototype but extra compartments are being fitted to the interior so that you can easily get at different items.
concerning the cup/glass holder would it be possible to incorporate on the back the clip arrangement as per walking stick/crutch holder in order the glass holder can then be clipped onto wheel chair/crutch etc. Portable but still useful???????
