For Women here are some tips on what to wear when seated and still look on trend for Summer 2015………

Deborah from accessingstyle.co.uk gave us some tips on looking good in a wheelchair:

‘A key thing to remember when shopping is to focus on your hair, face, and shoulders.  Sitting can make thighs appear a little wider than they are and this can be balanced with structure or details at the shoulders.  Because sitting can make your stomach protrude a little more than it naturally would (and can make you appear shorter waisted) your aim is to decrease your stomach’s appearance and boost your bust using a comfortable bra.  Your legs are out in front, so to keep the focus on your face, work on the principle that dark recedes and light highlights.  Therefore, wear your lighter colours near your face and shoulders and your dark colours on your legs.’

Taking these tips we’ve chosen some on trend pieces from the High Street. This season is all about the 70s revival with flared trousers and leather skirts and trousers being popular on catwalks (not sure if the leather is such a good idea…) However there is always suede A-line skirts and flat shoes/trainers to save you! The Jumpsuit trend is out unless you don’t ever go to the toilet but the wrap dress, skirt and even joggers are very useful as long as you tie them tight – I had a flesh exposed moment when my wrap skirt came loose in a meeting – devastating!!

For Men, Charlie Allen a London based designer gave us a few tips on how to dress around your disability here’s some of them;

Wear short jackets to make sure that you look smart in a wheelchair. “By having a shorter jacket, you can be sure you won’t sit on it. What we do is cut the jacket shorter at the back and slightly longer at the front. This makes sure that from the torso down, you look really smart.”

Don’t compromise on quality. “We use all the same materials that you would have with an able body. We all want luxury. It doesn’t matter what state you’re in. It’s all very tactile. We do feelie, touchy things. You want to feel luxury no matter what and a lot of our customers want to feel luxury”.

Also popular for men is the 70s look, along with statement stripes and lots of denim especially shirts!
