Blue Badge Style ‘Mix’ Concert is only a few weeks away now so we thought we’d share some information with you about the musicians who will be playing at the concert. The BBS ‘Mix’ Concert is on the April 14 2015, 7.30pm at St George’s Bloomsbury, London. The broadcaster Howard Goodall is supporting the concert and has said;

 “I applaud the efforts of Blue Badge Style in establishing this scholarship. Musicians with Disabilities often incur extra costs in following their dreams and nurturing their talent.”

Midori Jaeger

Midori is a cellist, composer and arranger studying for her Masters in Cello at the Royal Academy of Music. After graduating from King’s College London with first-class honours, Midori’s diverse musical interests have led her to many artistic collaborations including recording an improvised cello short film soundtrack, creating arrangements for voice and layered cello and writing songs, chamber and orchestral music. Midori’s string quartet piece Half A Lime has been recorded by the Onyx Quartet at the Royal Academy of Music and her songs performed at various independent venues around London. Upcoming projects include a music video collaboration for her song Driving Away and a film score commission for a short film by Thomas Bros Film Productions.

James Welland

James is a freelance music composer, jazz pianist and producer based in London with degrees from the University of Cambridge, the Royal Academy of Music and King’s College, London. Recent projects have included a commission for the Choir of St. John’s College, Cambridge, London Symphony Orchestra Soundhub, the Saatchi Gallery, the Turner Contemporary Art Gallery, a short film score in the US with award-winning LA director Guy Pooles that has gone on to be selected at 8 film festivals, a concerto commission for Colchester Symphony Orchestra, two pieces as part of a composition residency at the University of Cambridge and a piece for harp and electronics for the National Portrait Gallery. Work in popular music and media has led to writing for artists such as K Koke, Wiley, Sneakbo, Tinie Tempah and Krept & Konan and being associated with major record labels Warner Bros and Roc Nation.

James’ soundtrack Bridging the Void is currently on tour with Experiental Dance across the UK, his new piece for London Symphony Orchestra musicians premieres on April 23rd at the Barbican Centre, and a new score for an upcoming theatre production is being performed in late Spring at Hackney Downs Studios. James contributed scoring to the series of EPs being released by upcoming artist ALA.NI, the first of which came out in March.
