Yesterday we featured some fabulous designs from recent Young Talent EDIDA Winners Lanzavecchia + Wai. As we said then, and when we previously included their No country for old men collection in a post on trendy mobility aids, their designs are not yet in production. But yesterday evening we received an update from the designers with positive news on this front. There’s not movement in terms of the Proaesthetics range from yesterday but some of the No country for old men designs are edging closer to production.
First of all, there is news about Together Canes – a beautiful collection of wooden wheeled canes. All provide interstitial support, all have trays or storage space to provide additional functions and all look gorgeous. We’ve been informed that the designers have an appointment during the Milan Design Week 2014 with a really nice Italian wood company and they’re feeling pretty positive about it. Wouldn’t it be lovely to see these in shops?

The other news is about MonoLight, a design that we haven’t covered here before. The MonoLight is a table lamp with a large square of glass, which can be used to illuminate and magnify objects in front of you. It’s a useful idea for people with vision impairment or deteriorating eye-sight and looks good as a simple lamp too. We’re hearing that it seems that MonoLight is going to be produced by an US company who are developing it to make it producible and a reasonable price.
