You would expect something impressive and a little bit different from a Shrove Tuesday at the River Cottage and that’s exactly what they’ve done, providing not one but two alternative pancake recipes from Gill Meller. Pancake Decadence At The Botanist
One London restaurant has decided to do something to really stand out this Pancake Day with their unusual beef fillet, truffles and mushroom pancake. Despite not looking much like a classic pancake, we can assure you that it is, but not a cheap one. This new take on pancakes costs £28 per dish.

The World’s Most Expensive Pancake
Forget what’s come before: this is the most decadent pancake ever made. The Opus One Restaurant at Manchester’s Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel has created the world’s most expensive pancake recipe! Pink champagne, lobster, caviar and truffles are involved to create a pink triangular wedge of exorbitance. It certainly looks a bit different but at £800 per portion it’s flipping expensive!

Bacon Strip Pancakes
Pancakes with bacon on the side is a popular dish, so why not morph them together into one happy bacon strip pancake combination? This recipe – which looks almost childishly simplistic compared to the other creations we’ve seen – was in The Independent today.
