The Boathouse is located right on the river front in Cambridge and has a decking outside so you can sit and enjoy the view of the river and Midsummer Common in the summer. If you did want to get food here, you should know that it’s token ‘pub grub’. The pub is part of Greene King which I’ve noticed a lot of in Cambridge and they all have the same menu… So don’t expect anything too fresh!
I recommend going here on a Wednesday night when they have a really good live band playing some 70s rock music – one of the guys was apparently in Katrina and The Waves! You usually see the same people there too which I think is a good sign and there are some really interesting characters that you see in there regularly… Yes, I’ve quickly become a regular here myself!
The front entrance has a step in the doorway and another two up to the main bar area. If you did fancy some food here there is a step to the restaurant section (although I’m sure they’d let you eat elsewhere) but if you don’t there are no other obstacles in the way. I didn’t see a disabled toilet and I do usually notice them but I will check that out on my next visit.
We’ve spoken to them on the phone since Lucy’s last visit and they told us that they do have a disabled toilet. Sounds like it could be fun, particularly by the river in the summer but the amount of steps seems like a bit of an issue. Not sure how accessible it is – a provisional 1.5 BBS Ticks until we find out from a wheelchair user.
