Florita’s, or Florita’s Miami Bar and Tropical Gardens to give it its full name, is a trendy bar in central Newcastle with a great vibe, good disabled access and a possible chance to do some celeb-spotting.

The bar looks to emulate the hedonistic party-loving style of Miami. Everything is decked out with palm trees, splashes of bright colour amongst dark shades and ornate furniture. The glass doors, and simple fact that this is a big bar, give an open feeling which, along with the BBQ, cocktails and summer beats, would not be out of place on South Beach. The only thing that holds the Miami image back is the wintry Newcastle weather!

During the day there is a more relaxed atmosphere compared to the evenings, when the bar comes to life. Every night the bar hosts live music or DJ sets and the VIP areas towards the back are often visited by local celebrities and footballers. Very glamorous!

Florita’s has a disabled toilet near the smoking area and the bar is accessible for wheelchair users. You may find that there are steps in your way at some stages but they have a portable ramp which the door staff can put down to help you out. That’s OK but it might be a little difficult during busy periods. They suggest that it may be a good idea to call ahead so hat they can have the ramp prepared – probably something to consider there.

Florita’s bar looks very cool the and the access is OK if not the easiest. They have done more to help than many other places though so we give them a provisional 2.5 BBS Ticks.
