Archer Street is a trendy cocktail bar in Soho. It has an exclusive vibe, like the sort of thing you’d expect from one of the many surrounding private members clubs, but is open to all-comers.
The main bar area is on the ground floor with easy access to get inside. It’s a spacious, elegantly furnished and airy area with large French windows adding to the feeling of openness. The drinks are on the expensive side but you get what you pay for – a classy cocktail in stylish surroundings. There’s also a chance that one of the waitresses – who all have backgrounds in the performing arts – might put on an impromptu performance of some kind (usually a song).
There is another bar downstairs with a darker, more nightclubby feel to it. Unfortunately, the only way to get to this downstairs ‘Chukka Bar’ is via quite a big flight of stairs. There’s no alternative way down which is far from ideal for less able visitors.
They don’t have a disabled toilet on their premises but they told us that they have an agreement with Boca de Lupo, next door, who let the Archer Street customers use their loos.
In isolation, the main cocktail bar at Archer Street would be an accessible venue and only lose BBS points for the lack of a convenient disabled toilet. However, the downstairs bar means that only half the venue is accessible. So overall, we give Archer Street a provisional 1.5 BBS Ticks.
