We at BBS Towers were really pleased to see that the government are looking into Access to Transport for Disabled People. Now, this has been discussed ad infinitum but at last they now recognise that there is an economic reason to do this i.e. it would ‘boost the economy by letting more disabled people visit cafes, bars and shops,’ – Genius Thinking!!!!!!!! That’s what we are all about with our reviews and Mobile App giving you BBS ‘on the go’ ( Download it Here – Android,   iPhone & iPAD). Let’s hope they achieve the dream.

I’m still chilled from my Ibiza experience and the colder weather back here but I had a great time last night with Lieutenant No.2 at Sketch, Conduit St. They hosted an exhibition from the gallery 19 Greek St  –‘London’s hub for international contemporary design honouring values of craftsmanship, sustainability and design aesthetics’. It was called “Flung” and included chairs at an angle that looked impossible to sit on and ceramics that were flung into a kiln but came out as very delicate works of art. It proved that art and ideas are often created by accident. Unfortunately 19 Greek St. is not really accessible as the works cover 6 floors (accessed via stairs with bannisters), with none on the ground floor. So seeing what they do at Sketch was great – their brochure on the website looks good though.

It was a very interesting show plus free champagne! We then had dinner in the Martin Creed Installation in The Gallery Brasserie at Sketch, where every item is different – not so easy to achieve with style but it is very impressive as even each piece of cutlery is mismatched. The Sketch Fish & Chips is good even though I nearly had a ‘hissy fit’ when it appeared that all I had was a plate of salad covered in paper; didn’t realise the fish was with the chips in the accompanying basket – covered in really delicious batter. Look out for the Lego bread basket.

Have to say that although access isn’t brilliant at Sketch (there are stairs to both restaurants but there is a disabled loo & access to the Parlour is fine) the staff , especially Henry (House Manager & experienced wheelchair handler), were extremely helpful and transported me downstairs with the minimum of fuss.
