Marketing and PR excellence: Blue Badge Style

“The app, which would link directly to the site, was designed to give information on cool venues to visit, including ratings on style, access and disabled facilities”

Name: Blue Badge Style
City: Brentford
Website: www.bluebadgestyle.com

We needed to increase the number of website visitors and I did this by first going on a mobile app development course at University College London, as I knew this would be a quick way to publicise the company and also attract visitors to the site. The app, which would link directly to the site, was designed to give information on cool venues to visit, including ratings on style, access and disabled facilities.

Things really took off after UCL helped me build the app. Friends who also thought it was a good idea gave me money to grow the company. I spent this on launching the app (on a shoestring budget of £2,000) in time for the Paralympics 2012 and invited Paralympians and games makers to the launch via Twitter.

From that point on, the number of visitors to the site became significant, rising from hundreds to tens of thousands in year one. We now have interest from major companies and the business has gained a momentum all of its own.
