Sorry, but not much happened last week after the Wheeled in Chelsea event. I nursed a hangover for many days this week as Lucy and I had carried on at Beaufort House, after the rest of the team had gone home, drinking Mojitos and waiting for our taxi. See the pic below for a sense of how the evening ended up. I hope we get a good response to the competition after all I went through! It was a really enjoyable night though or as they’d (possibly?) say on Made In Chelsea it was ‘sick’.

Speaking of the competition, I’m excited that I can use my Weds Wrap as a chance to unveil another prize we’re giving away to one of the winners. It’s this this brilliant wheelchair cover I’ve had designed, featuring the Blue Badge Style logo. It’s a really useful item to have and it’ll also stand out from the crowd a bit, but in a stylish way. I had one on my wheelchair for the Wheeled In Chelsea trip instead of my old black one and I think we all agreed that white is the new black for wheelchair covers.

So we now have five prizes so far for the competition – the BBS Wheelchair cover, a meal for two and three very cool crutches from The German Crutch Company. All you need to do to enter is go on a fun night out and report back to us on it. Going out has never been so rewarding!

People often ask me about stylish choices in the mobility aid market. When it comes to wheelchairs or walking sticks, crutches and canes I feel that we can point them towards the Blue Badge Style website, where we have researched the best ones and put them into our guides. However, when people ask about stylish rollators and zimmer frames even I am completely stumped. This has been occurring more and more recently, since we posted a new zimmer concept on our Facebook page. But there just aren’t the options on the market that don’t just look like shopping trolleys on wheels.

Perhaps part of the problem is that these mobility aids are, more than any other, seen as something for ‘old’ people (I put old in quotes because age is just a number). But this really isn’t the case at all and even if it was why should being ‘old’ mean you don’t don’t want to have style?

So we’re going to try even harder to track some trendy options down. Next week we’re going to be posting some cool conceptual designs for zimmers and rollators on our Facebook page. We want people to visit the page, browse the ideas and vote for which you’d most like to see being made. Oh, and while you there, like our page too, if you haven’t already.

So that’s another wrap – a new competition, a new prize and some new design concepts. It’s been a fairly quiet week on the going out front but I was all partied out after Wheeled In Chelsea. There should be more of the usual next week though!
