Ziloufs is a cosy and cool cocktail bar in ‘the nicer end of Islington’ (their words not ours). The bar team, under the guidance of Niall Downey – who used to work at Ottolenghi’s NOPI – strive to find the perfect way to mix your drink. They focus on making up new drinks as well as maintaining a ‘classic seven’.
Ziloufs is another one of a number of London bars that feature in the World’s Best Bars top 100 bars in the world list. The description on World’s Best Bars calls the venue “a chilled and slightly retro back bar, with comfy leather sofas and old movies projected on the walls”. They also have an intriguing ‘East meets West’ food menu by head chef Tim “Tonto” Yates, who trained at the award winning Spirit House on the Sunshine Coast, Australia.
The disabled access is good. There is a slight incline to enter the bar from street level. Inside there are no steps anywhere and there is a well equipped disabled toilet with 3 or 4 grab rails. In fact, when we spoke to them they said the only step in the bar is a single step for the fire escape which shouldn’t be too much of an issue and as we joked “if you need to get down that step, you have bigger problems anyway!”
Zilouf’s is a great cocktail bar with good access. We’re going to give it a provisional 2.5 BBS Ticks.
