I’ll start this weeks Weds Wrap with the image of me being carried along by a team of strapping young waiters – trust me, it’s far less glamorous than it sounds. I had to be carried up the stairs at The Gilbert Scott last week because their lift had broken down. I was not particularly impressed as we worked my way upstairs.
But they did give me one of their latest competition winning cocktails for free. It was very tasty and at least partially made up for the lift being out of order. They did look after well there.
On Wednesday, I had Manual Lymphatic Drainage to help reduce the swelling in my feet. For those who are unaware MLD “is an advanced therapy in which the practitioner uses a range of specialised and gentle rhythmic pumping techniques to move the skin in the direction of the lymph flow.” It’s something I’ve tried in the past and I was slightly skeptical going into it but I have to say it seems to have helped a bit. There’s lots of information about it online if you’re intrigued.
Later in the week, after my old fashioned cocktail experience, I finally went to see The Great Gatsby. Was it worth the wait? Probably not. As much as I enjoyed watching Leonardo Di Caprio playing Gatsby and I knew that you’ll always get a good story from this Fitzgerald classic, I thought the interpretation from Baz Luhrmann was just a bit naff really. Too over the top for me – like a big cartoon version of Gatsby. One thing the film did have going for it was the soundtrack, but I’ve been able to listen to that at home for weeks! I’d rather just do that I think.
Over at Blue Badge Style HQ I recorded an investor video explaining what Blue Badge Style’s mission is. It’s up on YouTube for everyone to look at and hopefully should attract some investors to help us make style and accessibility intertwine with one another. As I say, we want people to look at disabled people as customers, rather than legal requirements. That’s the serious message but just so you know that I haven’t lost my sense of humour take a look at the outtake (warning – contains very slightly explicit language!!). The camera loves me I’m sure you’ll agree. In my opinion it’s better than Gatsby – at least it’s not as long!
Have a good week and I’ll be reporting back next week on my latest exploits.
