Andrea Begley is a 27 year-old, visually impaired, civil servant who has made it to the semi-final of The Voice UK. We thought we should make everyone aware of her because she has an astounding voice and we know from the news that not that many people have been watching the show.

But we want to tell everybody that with Andrea involved it’s more than worth switching over and checking it out. She is extremely talented and has a beautiful voice. It’s brilliant to see a less able person succeeding on one of these programmes and one who really deserves to too. She started losing her sight at 6 years old and now only has 10% residual vision. But, as is the entire point of The Voice, it is her voice and her voice alone that has seen her into the semi final of the programme. We strongly advise that you should watch her perform on The Voice’s website.

She’s on of the top acts on the programme admired by the coaches and the presenters. Last week she was one of the four best acts, taken through to the next round prior to the phone vote, such is the esteem with which she is held. In an interview for The Mirror, presenter of The Voice, Reggie Yates, said that Andrea has “one of the sweetest voices ever”. His co-host, Holly Willoughby, showing that being able to speak in proper sentences needn’t be a barrier to being a successful TV presenter, said: “I could listen to Andrea sing all day long. When she sang that Eva Cassidy song  I was like goosebumps all over me – she’s just got such a beautiful pure tone.”

We realise that only last week, when Jack Carroll was in the Britain’s Got Talent Final, we said that we wouldn’t normally urge people to vote in a phone-in competition but we’re going to shamelessly do it again!

Vote for Andrea Begley in The Voice and lets see if a less able person can win one of these things.

The Voice is on BBC1 at 7pm Saturday 15th June
