I and my good friend and PR Guru Kate, met for early drinks at the ME Hotel in Aldwych. I’m researching rooftop bars for a future article so if anyone has any they would recommend let us know. Anyway back to the story – I booked a table in the Radio Bar on the Roof Terrace, even though they originally wouldn’t let me book as you have to queue, but I explained I was in a wheelchair and would find it difficult if I wasn’t at a table. On arrival they insisted I had no booking so I don’t know why I bothered!! We got in anyway as it was 4p.m. and relatively empty. The views are spectacular and the seats outside looked welcoming as they had heaters but we stayed near the bar.

Due to the mix up we got 2 free drinks and we went for the ME Love cocktail – delicious even though there’s a cucumber involved!!!!!!! OOOHEr.

The nibbles were very good including a homemade scotch egg with a runny egg inside and tiny chorizo covered in honey. The disabled toilet however, was a disaster as the lock didn’t work, there was no grab rail near the mirror, no toilet paper and a broken flush. They did stand guard to compensate for the lock.

I’m sure it’s the latest place to be seen but too aggravating for us, so we left and went to the refuge of  One Aldwych for champagne.

Another aggravation this week has been the lack of response from gyms regarding their disabled facilities in particular Fitness First and some of the Boutique, Private gyms. I’m considering making some surprise visits!!

Not much else to report this week but I’m off to West Ham to see ManU tonight. I only hope there’s no aggro there.

Finally our thoughts go out to our US readers after the tragedy that unfolded in Boston. It puts the supposed protestors at Maggie’s funeral to shame. She’s dead and they should put their efforts into something more positive – maybe supporting the thousands who will be taking part in Sunday’s London Marathon.

Maybe next week will be less aggravating and more harmonious. I can only hope.
