An ice rink in Sheffield has started doing weekly sessions with disabled people during which they can have a go in these amazing looking bumper cars.

iceSheffield have bought four adapted bumper cars, which look like giant inflatable rings and can glide around on the ice. The battery powered cars are controlled by joysticks on either arm rest which move them forwards, backwards or side to side.

It’s another step forwards for iceSheffield’s already very good programme of activities for the less able. The cars are available to use on Mondays which is the same day as Ice Mobility – the other event they put on for wheelchair users which includes disabled Curling.

Shaun Lough, assistant events manager for iceSheffield, said: “The new bumper cars are fantastic and part of our commitment to ensure people of all ages and abilities can experience the rink at iceSheffield. There are very few places which offer bumper car activities for people with disabilities so we are proud to be able to offer these new sessions and the cars are really simple to use.”

If you want to have a go on these awesome cars then you should give them a call. There are only four of them so book ahead to avoid missing out.
