The George is an (apparently) English themed hotel in Hamburg. It’s a member of Design Hotels so it must be very trendy.
The English theme involves the hotel being decorated to make the guests feel like they are in an ‘English-style country house’. Unfortunately, we’ve yet to visit the hotel ourselves, so we can neither confirm, nor deny, whether this actually comes across in the design. But it is clear that the venue is decorated with lots of sleek, dark designs. This ‘Englishness’ in the style, that the hotel looks to achieve, comes across as more reminiscent of a posh club than Brighton Pier!
We have heard great things about The George. Particularly, we have been told that the restaurant is very stylish and that the bar – with a sixty page drinks menu – is also great.
It’s lucky that the praise has been for the bar and restaurant because the hotel itself does not have any disabled rooms. The bar and restaurant, in contrast, are fully accessible. We’re told they can be entered in a wheelchair and that they have disabled toilet facilities.
The George gets a provisional 2.5 BBS Ticks for its bar and restaurant.
