Bon Vivant is a bar in Edinburgh which is quietly stylish and has great food. It has been described as the go to bar for people who have been eating on Thistle Street.

The List describes Bon Vivant as “mind bogglingly exciting” for food fans with “both starters and puddings are offered in miniature £1 versions, so you can pick ’n’ mix, but in a rather more refined manner than in Woolworths.”

There is a step to get into the bar. Inside it is flat in the bar area and the floors are wooden but there are three steps up to the restaurant area.

Unfortunately there are no disabled toilets in Bon Vivant. This makes things slightly awkward because apparently it’s food is one of it’s main selling points. The List review says it’s probably not the sort of place to “drop in to for a pint” (although The Guardian actually named Bon Vivant one of the ten best cocktail bars in Edinburgh). But  if you do want to eat you’ll have to find a way up the steps (not too difficult) and not go to the toilet until you leave (a little harder). It’s a bit of a problem really.

Bon Vivant get’s a provisional 1.5 BBS Ticks.
