Here is The Epicure Lieutenant‘s review of The Little House, in Mayfair:
The Little House is the latest outpost from the increasingly global Soho House group. As such, it’s a private members club, but there’s no harm in reviewing it here, as, like me, you may find yourself invited along. To be accurate, I was invited along twice in one week.
The mood is of discreet privacy; the club is on the corner of Curzon and
Queen in the heart of hedge fund central. On both my visits it was busy
and buzzy with a smattering of the almost celebrity and European uber
rich. The dining room is low ceilinged and distinctly New York Diner in
feel with the obligatory banquettes and embossed tin ceiling tiles.
The staff are smart and sassy in that kind of ‘you know, if I wasn’t
doing this, I’d be a freelance fashion stylist and therefore I’m kinda
doing you a favour’ sort of way. The menu is well edited and features old
favourites and a few modern twists. I stuck to Jerusalem artichoke soup
on both occasions, with the pasta for lunch and the shared rib eye for
dinner. The soup was quite delicious; light. earthy and a hint of
truffle. The pasta I’d skip next time but the steak was in a league of
it’s own. Hung just right, and I’m Mister FussPott when I order steak; if
I say medium to rare then that’s what I want and they delivered. I was
too full for puddings but my fellow diners seemed delighted with theirs.
The wine list does the job, and considering where you’re eating, the
prices aren’t too bad. The fresh breads are a nice touch, and the artwork
on the distressed brick walls is useful eye candy.
The disabled access here is excellent. It’s step free entry, with easy to
get to loos just as you come in. They’ve thought about this and deserve
credit for it. I’d give the place 2.5 ticks.
