A friend recommended The Company Shed in West Mersea but she did say there was no disabled toilet and getting in with a wheelchair would be difficult. However, the seafood and fish were spectacular. Having researched some more everyone (the food critics) seems to be of the same opinion.
You can’t book and there is a queueing system. You can only pay by cheque or cash and you bring your own bread and drink. Nevertheless I’m still up for a visit. It’s a family run business which is primarily a fishmongers with food on the side. They specialise in ‘flattened oysters’ and also provide fresh caught fish, crabs etc from the locality.
They get a provisional 1.5 #BBS Ticks. Ultimate style but be prepared for no loo!! Also cheap, the most expensive dish is the seafood platter at £11.95!! Plate of mussels incredible at £3.95.
