Here’s an article by a fashion house – Xeni – just for wheelchair users,

(the high street is good if you look long and hard, on the net of course – see my choices for the younger fashionistas, for this week from Topshop at the end of this post):

XENI’s first collection is a capsule collection of aspirational fashion. We provide women, who absolutely do not lose their sense of style when they use wheelchairs, with classic pieces. This is not fast fashion. Our pieces are notable for their style rather than their response to changeable fashion. In this our first collection we feature pieces that have been designed based on our consideration of how a seated woman is appreciated. These are generally pieces to be worn out, going out to dinner or to join up with others at the theatre even possibly for a wedding.

For those of us who have difficulty manipulating buttons and zips, we provide coats and jackets whose fastenings are self-propelled using magnetism. You will love them closing with the merest whisper. We now want to expand the options available to women disabled as we are, by recruiting a range of designers to design for our market.

And clasps on jewellery, impossible! We plan to market jewellery specifically for women who have difficulty manipulating clasps. Jewellers if you want to supply this market please contact us.

Fashionable bags for wheelchair users! Accessory designers we need you.

Editorial Comment: I agree but I also want fashionable upholstery for my chair – Is there any?? We should also be able to cater for the younger fashionistas.!!
