Recently, Blue Badge Style’s Fiona Jarvis joined in discussions for a one-day forum entitled ‘Collectively Engaged – Digital Content Development in the UK’ which was hosted and produced by the artistic collective body>data>space at Europe House in London, on 20th September 2012.
Jarvis was in the company of about 30-40 creative digital content professionals & artists, all who are developing projects involving virtual, augmented reality, gaming, motion capture, locative and social medias, telepresence and other digital immersion techniques. The discussion looked at how people, formats and content weave together in digital art and creative works, keeping the body and mind at the centre of the experience.
The forum also hosted an exhibition, Robots and Avatars which included My Robot Companion , whose head ‘takes features from visitors’ faces and morphs them together with features from their friends’ and family’s faces, …’ There was also a digital Avatar art work, “Visions of our Communal Dreams”, developed with The National Theatre.
For the discussion, Jarvis offered perspective toward thinking about how people with disabilities would approach digital art projects. Would they be able to participate in any of the motion required to interact with the art? How would a blind person experience digital art?
The day let Jarvis network with the country’s leading digital content creators, sharing ideas, and visions for the future, and discussing how to increase engagement for Blue Badge Style. Input offered included the idea to create a 3D feature for the Blue Badge Style App.
The day’s hosts included Ghislaine Boddington who is the Creative Director of body>data>space, an organization that places the body at the centre of the digital domain, who have over 15 years of experience, in the UK and internationally, in merging the virtual and the physical.
Following the forum experience, Blue Badge Style is now planning to work with digital artists to make the company’s website and app more inclusive toward its audience., as well as giving visitors to the site a more unique experience.
