The iconic Hippodrome has been refurbished and re-opened and is now ‘once again the city’s foremost entertainment venue’….’three floors of gambling, five bars, a dedicated poker floor, an intimate cabaret theatre and the high energy Heliot restaurant and lounge’.
Heliot restaurant overlooks the main gaming floor & has ‘energy and glamour’ but the menu looks not so special.
Situated adjacent to the Heliot is the Matcham Room, a performance space that hosts “Live at the Hippodrome”. The programme of events and performances in this space has been created by Nick Frankfort, former Artistic Director of the Donmar Warehouse. Sounds interesting as it ‘will present established stars…….. as well as championing emerging talent’.
All sounds good and open 24 hours a day, what about access etc., well according to their site there’s ‘dedicated wheelchair access at the Little Newport Street entrance… five lifts around the building that provide access to all our facilities from The Gold Gaming Room on the lower ground floor right up to The Top Deck on the fourth floor!’
I usually say I will visit and confirm but as casinos aren’t my thing please will one of my site visitors me know what it’s like??!!
