Kitchen W8 (and the Abingdon previously), has been a favourite of mine for many years as it is easy to get into and the disabled toilet is good, albeit on the lower level. There are a few steps to the top part of the restaurant. I’ve always loved it as a stylish venue to take friends and customers alike. It is part owned by Phil Howard of The Square and his cooking influence has made this a place with superb food as well. It now has 1 Michelin Star. Here is the recent report from the American Lieutenant. Editor.

There is a very small step, about 2 inches high, at the entrance to Kitchen W8. Do not let this deter you from trying this restaurant because once you are over that step I am sure that you will enjoy the Kitchen experience. The restaurant is laid out on two levels so if you are in a wheelchair be sure to mention this when booking and you will be given a table on the lower level at the front of the restaurant. The disabled WC is also on this level. When I viewed the disabled WC it was being used as a cloakroom/ storage room. It was well appointed with drop down rails by the toilet, emergency pull chord and plenty of room for manoeuvring a wheelchair. I was assured by the manager, Antonio, that the WC would be cleared if it is mentioned when booking that one or more of the diners are disabled.

I found the staff friendly and very attentive. The food by head chef Mark Kempsom was excellent, he even signed the menu for my friend who lives in Bristol! I would class Kitchen W8 as a very stylish and well run restaurant with total access for a person with disabilities.

I agree and Kitchen W8 gets 3 BBS Ticks – Editor.
