Update on The Hoxton Feb 2013: They have 11 Accessible rooms. Look out for the PAD (Pictorial Access Statement) we are producing showing all the less able facilities at The Hoxton.

The Hoxton is the most disabled aware place I have been to so far. Situated in Shoreditch on Great Eastern Street it is identified by the trees outside -rare in this area. I and the American Lieutenant stopped for coffee in the reception lounge. The staff were welcoming and efficient and the access and space for wheelchairs is perfect. We had a look at the meeting rooms and disabled toilet on the ground floor and they are all accessible and the open courtyard at the central atrium was lovely.
They have more than one disabled room although we were told they were going to be re-designed to give more space. The wardrobe in particular was small and impossible to reach the hanging rail – easily remedied by a pull down rail. There was also no mirror in which I could see all of me. A good idea was that each room had an adjoining room for a carer. Good for me as I hate sharing. The shower had plenty of space and was wheelchair accessible with plenty of grab rails. The decor was aesthetically pleasing and not over – fussy.
The overall ambience was that of trendy, casual and efficient style. I would definitely stay here on my own and I will be back to try the food in the Hoxton Grill which is owned by the Soho House Group .
Great place and The Hoxton epitomises exactly what BBS is all about. Disability is accomodated without compromising on style and ‘inclusion’ is the norm !
The Hoxton is awarded 3 BBS Ticks.
