Lieutenant No1 and I went the Oval last year , it rained but it was enjoyable nonetheless as we sat in the wheelchair enclosure at the Vauxhall End – I think?! It was very clean and access via the Alex Stewart Gate is easy. If you call in advance they can get you parking. The disabled toilet was very clean and nearby. When it rained a great DJ played in the covered area where there was a vintage Citroen van selling very good wine.
This year we went again and sat in the wheelchair enclosure in Stand 20. It was the 2nd One Day International against Australia. It was the best view as you were side on to the field of play and plenty of cricketers stood near us – see below. It rained on and off but there was some sun. I got drenched and sun-burnt all in one afternoon (only in England). There was no Citroen van this time and it wasn’t as clean as I remember. There was also a mysterious smell which wafted over occasionally. However, the banter from the crowd was funny and England won so a good time!
The Oval is very disabled friendly and they can’t do enough to help so I give them 3BBS Ticks but bring back the Citroen van and the good wine!!
