I and Lieutenant Commander Amanda attended a friends wedding at Botleys Mansion near Chertsey in Surrey and while we were there I decided to check out the disabled facilities. This is a very grand old building but the owners have managed to install a lift and a disabled WC on the ground floor.
The large WC is well equipped with plenty of space to manoeuvre a wheelchair. It has everything you would expect to find, drop down grab rails plus fixed grab rails, emergency pull chord even a pull down baby nappy changing table! All areas are accessible with ramps a lift and helpful staff. Beware the driveway outside the mansion is laid with pebbles which is nice feature for photographs but not nice to push a wheelchair (or walk with a stick). They also have rooms if you want to stay overnight but unfortunately I did not ask if they had a disabled room.
It’s nice to know I’ve got a disabled friendly wedding venue, should I need it!???? – Editor
