KOKO began life as The Camden Theatre and was opened on Boxing Day 1900. I went there when it was the Camden Palace in the 80’s and had many good nights there. It is now a venue for new musical talent and has been reviewed by Alex Taylor as he has a younger perspective on accessibility. (I just couldn’t go there as the ‘oldest swinger in town!!’):

‘Koko purports to be fully accessible, yet the reality is very different. Wheelchair users are required to watch from the balcony and are unable (due to the myriad of staircases), as well as forbidden, to join the rest of the crowd on the dance floor. Watching other people have a good time is not my idea of fun’.
