After a large meal the other night it was suggested  that instead of getting a taxi straight away I and Lieutenant No 1 go for ‘a wheel’ for a while. I was apprehensive as London streets are quite a hazard in a wheelchair. It was rough to start with especially as I ingested a large amount of diesel being at the same height as the London Bus exhaust. We persevered and I got used to the bumps and was able to warn my ‘pusher’ of upcoming obstacles. It was a different view of the streets of Notting Hill, Holland Park and Shepherds Bush, I can’t remember ever not going there by car.

It was interesting and all the movement actually made me feel more energetic even though I was being pushed. It was also great to get some fresh air??! I now feel confident in using my chair for any sort of journey.
