Eskis is an interesting restaurant in Lyon serving really unusual food. In the Michelin guide it says “the young chef is curious about the world and delivers creative and ‘molecular’ cuisine”. The restaurant has similarities with Heston Blumenthal’s approach although it is a little bit more grounded in reality than the Fat Duck. Samuel Desjobert, the chef, is described as having a playful approach (didn’t anyone tell him not to play with his food). It’s very creative, surprising and fun.

Eskis’ website describes Sam as being “lost in the land of traditional cuisine. A UFO that keeps track of the new texture, flavor lost. Do not tell his mother that her son is an outstanding cook, and she believes engineer in an R & D.” Whatever this is supposed to mean it shows they have a sense of humour there.

The website also says that it has wheelchair access. Indeed accessing the restaurant is possible, but once inside there are no disabled toilets. Because of this Eskis has been given a reduced rating.

Eskis gets a provisional 2 BBS Ticks.
