Listing Description

The Ivy has now gone into the upmarket brasserie business with openings all over the UK. They say it ‘brings the familiar luxury of The Ivy on West Street to a relaxed yet sophisticated all-day dining restaurant on Kensington High Street’.

This was one of the first Ivy Brasseries and we’ve been here on a few occasions, it’s always been a great experience, not least as an observation of the mixed clientele. During the day it’s bustling with people from those who want a quick lunch to those who want a lingering ‘boozy’ one. You can guess which one we were!
The food is brasserie style and not too expensive, I had a very palatable fish and chips with petit pois puree my guest had the Dover sole with chips. The wine list is extensive but the sommelier was very helpful as were all the staff. Our bill with wine was £75 for 2.

Despite Tiled Flooring & Busy Service You Can Still Hear Clearly

It is definitely the place to be seen in Kensington and the evening atmosphere has a more obviously affluent crowd of people who actually live in and around the area.

Access is totally flat with a marble floor and there are staff near the entrance to help with the doors and the slight incline from the door to the main room. It’s very well lit and despite a full room it was still easy to hear each other. They were also nominated for ‘Best Disabled Loo’ award at The 2016 BBS Awards, as the decor was the same as the ‘normal’ toilets and everything was in the right place. They were located at the rear of the dining room.

Everything in the Right Place But a Little Dark

There is a terrace with a retractable roof but we haven’t been there yet so we don’t know how accessible it is. It isn’t bookable for the ‘sophisticated’ dining experience they boast.

The Ivy Kensington gets an audited 2.5 BBS Ticks.
