Blue Badge Style have launched something we think less able people will find useful – PADs. We want all Hotels, Restaurants, Bars etc to give an instant view on all websites of the disabled facilities &/obstacles, so that we’re not surprised or embarrassed when we go out!!

The Blue Badge Style Pictorial Access Description or PAD is a description of a venue from the point of view of the disabled “customer” rather than a cold compliance statement. These are often not very welcoming and don’t give a disabled customer the extra reassurance they need from a venue, no matter what the obstacles (if any). It’s often very difficult to work out what the obstacles are for your particular type of disability. For example a walking stick user will want to know if there’s a handrail on the stairs, whilst a wheelchair user needs to know how easy it is to get up a ramp. It’s all about knowing what to expect. Blue Badge Style’s pictorial descriptions will be as cool as the venue’s website, allowing potential customers to make an informed choice before going out and having a good time!

We have already attracted some attention in both Hotel Owner and Access Magazine (see below), as well as Green Hotelier and Big Hospitality. So wish us luck as we try to get all venue websites to give the less able the same experience as able bodied when choosing where to go from a website.
