Further update Oct 2013  the person we spoke with is wrong there is no disabled toilet at the Hinds Head but ambulant disabled can use the Gents on ground floor, accessed by a step, cleaned and cordoned off by staff if a Lady wants to use. So as you were there’s still no relief in Bray but they are looking at it!? So back to just 2 BBS Ticks 🙁

Update Oct 2013: Good and bad news fellow Disabled Bon Viveurs – The Hinds Head have found space and put in a disabled toilet !!!!!! So they now get 3 BBS Ticks. However no sign of one at the Crown At Bray :(.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

The Hinds Head, Bray, is a listed 15th-century building, in the style of ‘a local village pub’. As Michelin Pub of The Year 2011 and gaining a Michelin Star for 2013, I’m sure it’s fabulous; with the high standard of cooking you’d expect from Heston Blumenthal. Unfortunately there is no disabled toilet ‘due to lack of space’. There is access and there are tables available for wheelchair users on the ground level.

The Crown At Bray used to be my local when I worked in Maidenhead and many a bottle of Champagne was downed there!! It is also owned by  Heston and is designed to be ‘the intimate, local feel of a well used pub, whilst serving excellent food’. There is access to the pub, courtyard and garden but due to lack of space, no disabled toilet.

I am going to try them both as I’m sure they have an abundance of ‘style’ but I despair as I won’t be able to drink too much as there appears to be a ban on disabled toilets in Bray.

Both get a disappointing, provisional 2 BBS Ticks.

My family and I were going to try out The Fat Duck (it would have been this week) and heard the same thing from them – no disabled facilities as it’s in an old building.
