Newton Bar is a trendy establishment in Berlin named after legendary Berlin fashion photographer Helmut Newton. In tribute to him the walls of the bar are decorated with photographs he took of nude supermodels blown up to about 18 foot tall. The photographs dominate the look of the place with the rest of the bar being decorated with oak and leather chairs.
Newton’s is listed as one of Time Outs 20 best cocktail bars in Berlin. It also features on World’s Best Bars. It is particularly suitable for the over-40’s as it is generally frequented by businessmen, diplomats and other high wage earners.
It’s quite a small place with only 16 tables and not too much space between them. This may make it difficult to get around in a wheelchair, especially at the busiest times. They have said it may be most suitable to come before 9 o’clock, to avoid the crowds, which is hardly ideal. In fairness, they can’t help being popular. However, they do have a disabled toilet and the bar is on street level so it is possible to access even if it is not overly practical.
It’s a very cool space but also a rather narrow one when busy. Accordingly, Newton Bar gets a provisional 2 BBS Ticks.
