Gidleigh Park is a gorgeous hotel in Devon, we haven’t audited but when we called they told us all about their disabled accessible bedroom and the Michael Caines restaurant.

The disabled access room is on the ground floor and has an interconnecting room in case family or a carer need to be near by, there is also a garden terrace. There’s a big wheel-in shower, with a chair, a lowered basin and hand rails for the toilet. There is no bath or hoist and there are emergency pull cords if you need assistance. You can also lower the hanging rail in the wardrobe!

In the restaurant and bar it’s all one level once you get over the 6 inch step to get in, which the staff will happily help you negotiate. There is another 6 inch step at the front of the main house, which again you can be helped up by staff and there is disabled parking at the front.

The restaurant is run by Executive Chef Michael Caines with 2 Michelin Stars, it’s ‘traditional and highly innovative at the same time’.

Gidleigh Park certainly deserves a provisional 2.5 BBS Ticks and a visit from the ‘boss – Fiona’.
